The agony of loss is written harshly across the features of this mother’s face. The body of her lifeless child cradled against her emaciated body as her fingers ripped at her own flesh. The other hand clutching the limp arm of the child. The mother struggles to her feet from the scarred ground which serves as a base. The child lies limp within her arms, the legs dangling and the head lulling back against her arm. The patina is a red earthy brown.
